The best thing about running is that you can run with any attire possible from plain to sleeveless shirts, jogging pants to bicycle shorts, and a pair of socks. Of course, jockstraps or sports bras are a must. But the best running apparel is usually the ones that have moisture control properties. Avoid using cotton shirts as they can give you that wet rag look as you complete 5 kilometers. Wear polyester shirts and nylon pants or any other branded fabric that keeps moisture away from your body. And wear polyester as socks as it is good for your feet so you can avoid blisters. They are a bit expensive but the comfort is your best investment.
Certain brands have running apparel suited to climates ranging from mild cool mornings up to scorching hot afternoons. If the weather permits that you can use one plain and one short sleeved shirt with nylon jogging pants then by all means go for it. But if the heat is getting the best of you, you may have to mix and match your apparel to avoid retaining sweat and maintaining a cool body while wearing the best shorts and shortest pair of socks possible.
If you choose to run at night or early morning before sunrise, wear something that has reflectors to avoid accidents as you traverse through the urban jungle traffic, the park, go uphill by the road, and climbing up a mountain side. You can choose to wear cotton if the weather is colder and moisture is unlikely to deter you from sweating too much.
